Best Practices in AVO & Attributes
22nd July 2015
Overview
Traditionally seismic interpretation had been essentially qualitative with little emphasis on the physical understanding of seismic amplitude variations. In the last few decades however, seismic interpreters have place increasing emphasis on more quantitative techniques for seismic interpretation as these can validate hydrocarbon anomalies and give additional information using prospect evaluation and reservoir characterisation. Advances in AVO & Attributes are becoming increasingly important technique to open up new doors for the seismic interpreter for accurate appraisals. This course will equip you with the most essential knowledge you need to ultimately increase hydrocarbon discoveries.
Benefit Of Attending
- Understand input data such as seismic rock properties, log rock properties and scale considerations
- Learn pitfalls of acquisition and processing
- Define and evaluate error ranges in inversion
- Apply inversion parameters
- Understand QI parameters and geology
- Mitigate data shortcomings and technique imperfections
- Comprehend AVO & attribute building blocks
- Apply AVO to real data
- Examine complex attributes and choose the best attributes
