Overview

The International Oil and Gas Industry, due to the inherent nature of its business is a high risk/ high reward field of endeavor. As operations within the upstream sector (E&P) often take place within harsh and remote environments, as the midstream sector serves to transport products with a variety of potential impacts on both people and the environment and as the downstream sector often operates in proximity to social infrastructure – the need to identify, assess and calculate risk, as well as to implement plans for control or mitigation are of paramount importance. Broadly speaking, there are 2 main categories of risk -operational risk and strategic risk.

This course has been specifically formulated to give participants a thorough grounding in what needs to be considered in the management of risk from a strategic perspective. This course is unique as unlike many other offerings, the focus here is on the ‘macro’ or ‘big picture’ risk.
