Corrosion Management
13th October 2014 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Overview
The costs of corrosion are known to be significant. Whilst the global economy is recovering it is still crucial for oil and gas operators to extend the asset life-cycle to push back replacement investments. In order to do this safely, whilst preventing unplanned shutdowns, spills, loss of income and production it is imperative to proactively monitor and address corrosion. Increasingly aging facilities operating in a harsh environment require advanced strategies to control and monitor corrosion. This masterclass will address advanced corrosion management strategies for upstream, midstream and downstream operations.
Key Learning Points Include:
- The basics of corrosion management and control
- Root causes of corrosion
- Effective monitoring and inspection techniques
- Various methods of material deterioration caused by corrosion
- Common types of corrosion in aging facilities
- Why plant components fail and how corrosion control strategies can help prolong the life of the component and delay aging
- How improper or incorrect control methods can result in faster aging, resulting in early failure
- Prolonging aging with periodic maintenance
- Reviving aged structures and components through repairs, including a fresh coating, application of cathodic protection or a combination of both
